What does it look like to follow Jesus as a young adult?
At Westgate Chapel, our vision is that God would form us into a young adult community of passionate Jesus-followers who love each other deeply and participate in God’s Kingdom breaking into Toledo, Ohio.
This looks like gathering together with fellow Christians to worship, learn, grow, and build each other up. We worship God through music, prayer, and seeking Him together as a community. We learn and grow as we listen to God speaking into our lives today, here and now, through His Word and His Spirit in each other. We build each other up using our personality, abilities, and spiritual gifts to love each other and push each other towards Christ.
It looks like having fun and sharing life together! As young adults we’re all looking for places to belong and people to just live life with. From our small groups (called Life Groups) to our large group gatherings and events, we’ve made spaces not only to grow but also to play and connect and enjoy one another. Beyond these scheduled spaces, we want to be an "everyday life" sort of community, where we hang out, gather others in, adventure, and share experiences together. Planned or unplanned, we love spending time together!
And, our vision is that all of this would not only be for ourselves alone, but for those around us in Toledo: our friends, families, neighbors, and co-workers. Following Jesus means we’re part of sharing His life and all it entails with the world around us. Sharing our faith in real relationships with others, and working to restore the world to the way God desires it to be, this is what it means to "participate in God’s Kingdom." We want to serve Toledo, to care for the marginalized, and to see those far from God find life, hope, and restoration in Him through our being His Body and witnesses.
