VBS & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN MONTUFAR
We are gathering a team of 8 people ages 14+ who love kids and Jesus to serve with our partners in the capital city of San Jose, Costa Rica!
WHILE IN COUNTRY:
Main Ministry - VBS: Host a five-day VBS at Tres Rios Alliance church in Montufar. Montufar is a barrio in the capital city of San Jose, Costa Rica. Monday 26 – Friday 30 we will serve alongside the church with games, bible lessons, crafts, and music.
Other Serving Opportunities: We will be present in the Montufar community the entire week, serving alongside the church and school. The team will spend time with students outside of VBS, worship nights after dinner, game nights/afternoons, going into the school to work/beautify/clean/update the space.
Excursion Day: Saturday, January 31 (beach, zipline, or coffee farm)
Lodging: Montufar Community Center. Large open space with partition between men and women. Sleeping on the floor on air mattresses. Full kitchen and two full bathrooms. Montufar CC is within walking distance of the church as well as the basketball/soccer ministry. This community is where all the kids live so we will be in the community we are serving.
Cost: Teammates will need to write support letters to fundraise ~$2,000 per person (final number will come once flights are purchased). Teammates are asked to personally pay the first $100 deposit and pay for their own passport. Passport valid through July 2026.
PREPARATIONS AHEAD OF TIME:
- Commit to attend team meetings through the end of January (one every other week)
- Support raising: write a letter, follow up with the ~25-30 people you asked
- Ensure you are in good physical health- lots of walking, energy for long days
There will be an interest meeting on October 8 during our Prayer Experience in the Refinery. We are asking for all submitted applications by October 19.
